 FOCUS : Persuasion. 

The gentle art of getting what you want without giving too much away. Similar to the "IF - THEN" statement in XL. Or, you do this and I'll do that. In English this can be referred to as GIVE and TAKE [an idiom / phrase].




LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES FOR UNIT:

  • Vocabulary - Business English differs mostly in its vocabulary
  • Cleft Sentences - for emphasis AND NEGATIVE INVERSION FOR ADDED OOMPH!
  • Phrases - in renegotiation - THE ART OF 'SPIN'
  • Functional Language - getting co-operation and collaboration and giving requirements
  • Meaning - CLARITY CLARITY CLARITY [cross cutting skill / vital in multilingual teams]
